My Experience

Hey.. So what do you need to know? I’m qualified, insured and competent (they’re the basics!). I’m warm, approachable, non-judgemental and pretty unshockable too.  Learning is one of my favourite things and I have trained in transpersonal psychotherapy.

The transpersonal approach values the whole human being, some might describe it as a spiritual approach. What it means for me is that we are all connected, and our individual actions have a ripple effect.

The British Psychological Society describe transpersonal as;

“Transpersonal Psychology might loosely be called the psychology of spirituality and of those areas of the human mind which search for higher meanings in life, and which move beyond the limited boundaries of the ego to access an enhanced capacity for wisdom, creativity, unconditional love and compassion. It honors the existence of transpersonal experiences, and is concerned with their meaning for the individual and with their effect upon behavior.”

My personal experience of therapy

I’ve had an interesting life and came to a career in psychotherapy in my 40’s, after having a personal journey of my own and going into therapy in my 30’s. You can read more about my personal journey here (soon!).

I love human beings, and am interested in people generally, and particularly their struggles and dilemmas, maybe because I’ve had so many of my own.

I am particularly drawn to working with people with complex trauma, that is, layers of struggles that might include childhood trauma, abuse and neglect, parental alienation, domestic violence and relationship ruptures.

Relationships lie at the heart of our lives, and if we are able to enter into them with more curiousity, more open heartedness and more vulnerability, there is less likely to be misunderstandings.

About my Memberships

I’m a accredited member with the National Council of Psychotherapists, membership no 361073 and I abide by their code of ethics and professional practice.

I am registered with the Private Practice Register in the UK and accept insurance billing from Aetna Global Benefits and Vitality Health.

I have an enhanced DBS certificate and current indemnity insurances as required by UK law.

 The most important part of therapy, which research has proven, is the value of the therapeutic relationship – that is, how a client and therapist gel together.

I hope that you’re able to look around and find a therapist that shares your own values and beliefs.
